Xperience Design Project (XDP)

♪♪ -XDP,
the Xperience Design Project, is two years in the making. And it came from all of you… -I’m looking
for something different. -A completely different
approach. -…who said, “We don’t want
just more of the same. The conferences, the meetings
that we produce are not enough. They don’t meet
the challenges of our time. We need to learn to do better.” So, XDP is an opportunity
for all of us to learn how do we actually design
experiences that matter. -ASAE really broke the mold
when they created XDP. -I’ve gone to conferences before where, at the end of the day,
I’m like cross-eyed. No. This one is high-energy. Can’t wait to see
what tomorrow brings. -How do we take
the opportunity we have to make different choices
on behalf of our members so they aren’t just going to
another meeting or a conference, they’re going to an experience
that moves them? -And I’m so glad
that I didn’t miss out on this particular opportunity. It was such a great event. -If you make decisions
that affect other people, you are a designer. -Because I always thought of,
you know, we hire designers, and I’m just
the meeting planner. But this really forced me
to think about how we’re designing
an experience for attendees. -If you make decisions
that bring people together to have them learn,
interact with others, and imagine new ideas, you are an experience designer. -And just
the whole layout of the room, especially using the ear buds, made it intimate
at the right times and made us feel a part
of a group at the right times. -XDP is what we need in order to
bring new designs to life. ♪♪ ♪♪
