We’re alright thanks How are you? Yeah good thank you. Very thank you ‘Good very thank you’, sorry That’s me trying to be funny in front of the comedy society I’ll probably fail Yeah But how are we guys? I’m good I am also good We agree. We’re very well Been standing up a lot but apart from that Yeah there’re no chairs here. I mean there’re chairs here, we’re sat on two We’ve given your legs a rest! Yeah. I did squats yesterday. That’s not a joke. I can’t stand up today really So what is the Comedy Society? What do you guys do? Mostly squats No squats You go Louis Umm yeah. [laughing] We’re uh. No, go on hold it. So we’re sort of trying to up our social aspect of our society at the moment We meet up every Tuesday. Every sort of biweekly Tuesday There’s a Comedy Central Live night on campus And you get a discount with the society membership Yeah 50% discount so it’s pretty good We’re also looking at going to London Sort of do little trips, things like that There’re also opportunities to perform as well but I feel like a lot of people are scared of that. I certainly was when I started Trying to branch out a little bit Yeah we do a full, proper stand-up comedy gig every month at some time in the month. It changes but go on our Facebook page and you can find out It’s at The Turks, which is near London Road campus Between LRC and town and we perform members of the society perform and then we also get other stand-up acts from across the country Oxford, London usually Some times they’re pretty well-established or semi-professional It’s a good night and it’s free Last week saw heavy snow fall in Reading So we sent YC out in the cold to get some footage for us Thursday night saw heavy snow around campus We’re gonna walk around and see how it looks So let us know how you spent your snow day and by all means share your clips and photos of your igloo or your now fight to our Instagram and Facebook pages and back to you in the studio Thanks to our very own snowman, YC Last week, RAG held their 24 hour gaming marathon in order to raise money for their two chosen charities Red Balloon Learner Centre and Student Minds. To participate each individual had to raise £50 but the final total hasn’t been revealed yet so keep an eye out of the RAG Facebook page for further details It’s been announced that Professor Robert Van de Noort has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor at the University of Reading Professor Van de Noort started his role as Acting Vice-Chancellor in September 2018 following the departure of Sir David Bell last year The appointment process involved input from across the representatives from the whole of the university including RUSU Professor Van de Noort said: And I actually had a go at knitting earlier on which is something I’ve never done before and this is how I got on So this is chunky wool to make a homeless hat. So what we’re gonna do is go in behind the stitch We’re gonna wrap it round and we’re gonna pull it out and put it through that hole and off Right So in, round and off you make it look so easy No, no, no! Hold them more like that Do I just let go of that then? No Then how have I got enough hands? I need three hands! I don’t understand how you do it with two hands! You need a third hand! You just do the round but and I’ll do the in and off bit [Have you taught him how to hold it yet?] Nailed it Homeless people will be happy with this hat That’s really good! And just push it down the needle. That’s great!
