SandFest 2019 and Kite Fest to draw thousands to Coastal Bend

can’t miss event kicks off tomorrow morning that features breathtaking creations and competitors from around the globe yeah it’s gonna be another great year in fact the 23rd annual sand fests and Port Aransas kicks off and organizers expect tens of thousands of people to come out and check it out this weekend one guy who checked it out as Action tenza Seth Kovar he’s live in our studio so this year is gonna be bigger and better than last I’m assuming it seems like they do that every time but this year that does appear to be the case for the most part those same Fest organizers take an if it ain’t broke don’t fix it approach to the festival but last year was the first Sam fest after hurricane Harvey so organizers limited their search for sand sculptors to the US not the case this year tomorrow morning sculptors from the US but also Canada Italy the Netherlands and other European countries will begin carving and competing for the best creation made only of sand and water GFS is an a remarkable one-of-a-kind kind of event an event that organizers estimate brought 35,000 people to Port Aransas last year it was a boom for the local economy still in recovery from hurricane Harvey and it wouldn’t hurt to get another one this year they all said that they just wanted to come and check out forte and show their support and they loved it so much that they’re hopefully this year they’re bringing grandma and all the cousins with them sand Fest bound families staying eating and shopping in Port a is one way the festival benefits the community but then there are the scholarships the festival awards to graduating high school seniors and grants to nonprofit organizations more than $300,000 worth just last year I think that’s one of the great things about sand fest and maybe why so many people are truly addicted to coming because they do see what I reckon what our mission is which is to give back to the community that gives so much which is why they urge you to come check out sand Fest this weekend especially with beach weather in the forecast hope the weather seems like Mother Nature is gonna shine upon us greatly so we hope you can come out and see what Port Aransas how much better we’re doing that even last year we had such great support last year after the hurricane so people come back and really go visit our shops and come check us out here we have all the information you need including festival hours and what it costs to get in on our website that’s KZ TV the number 10.com and at 6:00 I promised information on another festival in our area this weekend it’s the Rockport Kite Festival and it’s set for Saturday and Sunday at the festival grounds there at Rockport Harbor we also have the information for that events there on our web sites reporting live in the studio Seth Kovar Action 10 News
