WITNESSES SAY THE STORM ROLLED IN QUICKLY. this powerful wind came with it CREWS WORKING TO SET UP THIS LARGE WHITE TENT FOR THE RIO GRANDE ARTS AND CRAFTS FESTIVAL FOUND THEMSELVES UNDERNEATH IT. JOEY RAMOS SAYS IT SOUNDED LIKE A TRAIN WRECK. THE TENT LIFTED UP INTO THE AIR and boom lands back here, about 50 feet backwards ABOUT 40 PEOPLE GOT TRAPPED UNDERNEATH THE TENT. ONE PERSON WENT TO THE HOSPITAL. THAT WAS RUTH GORE THE FESTIVAL’S DIRECTOR. Just 24 hours later, the tent is back up, and crews are working quickly to prepare for Friday GORE SAYS THE FESTIVAL HAS RUN INTO SOME PROBLEMS THIS YEAR… INCLUDING FINDING A SPOT TO CALL HOME. “The tent takes up so much room and the parking and everything it’s difficult to find anything that big” FOR YEARS, IT’S BEEN AT PASEO AND I-25 BUT MOVED THIS YEAR TO EXPO NEW MEXICO. “instead of being surrounded by construction, we’ll be surrounded by live horse racing” AND YESTERDAY’S ACCIDENT DIDN’T SLOW THEM DOWN.
