from a paper square you can make a very beautiful
rectangular paper box. and you can make many colorful boxes like this. you start with apiece
of square paper. now just mark the mid points. no creasing, just mark it. similarly on the
other edge mark the mid point. now make cup board fold by bringing both the edges to this
mid point. this way you get quarter lines. now rotate the paper by 90 degrees and repeat.
once again bring the edges to the mid point to make the cupboard fold. now open the square.
now take one edge and bring it to the 3 quarter line. and once again if you fold. you will
get a 1/8th strip in the middle. repeat it from the other side to get another 1/8th strip.
this will make the width of the rectangular box. and now you draw two eyes, circle like
eyes and this is the face. now these are the diagonal rays, lines emerging from the eyes.
2 diagonals to the left, similarly 2 diagonals to the right. this will help you to locate
the diagonals. now you can see there are four diagonals, 1,2,3,4. and upturn the paper and
fold all the 4 diagonals, crease them well. this is the 1st one, this is the 2nd diagonal,
now the 3rd one and finally the 4th one. now this structure form of rectangular box is
almost ready. and now you simply fold it up. there will be a pocket as you see and the
lower side. tuck the flap inside the pocket to complete absolutely glorious rectangular
box. there is no glue, no cutting. this is famously called as Govind’s box after the
name of the designer. you can make many colorful boxes and keep one on top of the other. you
can design lots of games based on these rectangular boxes. they are simple and elegant to fold.
