The Canada Council for the Arts can help make your artistic dreams a reality. Their grant programs provide funding to support new creative processes. They can help you take risks, research, develop new work, and reach a broader audience. Apply for a grant at the Canada Council for the Arts, and take your craft practice to the next level. Craft artists from across Canada have created beautiful, challenging, and meaningful work, exploring new ideas and opportunities with the support of the Canada Council. This work is bold, engaging, and fearless, from the minds and hands of makers who contribute to our national culture of visual art. Push yourself, and propose your next project for consideration today. There are three components to accessing funding: registering your account, There are three components to accessing funding: registering your account, creating your profile, and applying for a grant. You will only have to register once, no matter how many grants you apply for in the future. How?
Start by opening an account at canadacouncil.ca. Once you receive your account registration approval by email, activate your account and create your profile. This is where you identify yourself, telling the Canada Council who you are. Craft artists should choose “individual” for their applicant type, and click “create a profile” This is where it gets more specific… Fill in your details, and add your CV. If applicable, you may self-identify with any of the following groups: “Deaf and Disability” “Aboriginal/First Peoples of Canada”, “Culturally Diverse” or “Official Language Minority Community.” Choose “visual arts” for your field of practice, and “artist” or “curator” for your profile type. Be sure to read the eligibility criteria that pops up here to verify that you fulfill the requirements of that Profile. Then, press SUBMIT – and your profile goes off to the Canada Council for validation. Once your profile is approved you will get a notification from the Canada Council. Log into your account to see which specific grant programs you are eligible for, and their related deadlines. Warning: it can take up to 30 days for your profile to be approved – so don’t leave everything to the last minute! There is a limit to how many applications you can submit each year. So get creative, plan ahead, and create your profile today We encourage fine craft artists from across Canada to register today Once your profile is approved, you can apply for grants to get support for the projects YOU want to take on. The Council’s grants are designed to support OUTCOMES – so ask yourself, what do I want to achieve? To research or try new things? Apply to the Explore and Create: Research and Creation grant To develop your skills, apply to the Explore and Create: Professional Development for Artists grant To create new work for confirmed exhibitions?
