Origami ball / Kusudama Dafina (Andrei Dumitriu)

hello everybody I am Thom I needed to hear Lt George make text and Athena right and ready to meet you this one here has 12 pieces of paper but you can also make one with 30 pieces of paper and you can see the example in the link in the video description well the problem with these are going to hear is that you spend a lot of time to make each piece and also to assemble it you’re going to use glue I don’t know if if you can assemble it without glue but I found it really hard just simple and well I don’t know cuz I made these are gonna be using the crease pattern so I’m not sure if I am assembling it correctly but it made um it’s a really nice Ergon because well it’s like lots of Kawasaki roses together okay psychics not made out of Cossack roses okay so let’s start [Music] okay so first of all we are going to choose one square sheet of paper for each piece and you’re rich fold like this first of all you’re going to fold the paper in half face alright and then you’re rich fold here each part you have again like face this and one more time you’re ready fold each part here you have again so basically you’re going to divide here the paper in eight parts so just to this folder here and now you’re just going to do the same thing to this direction here I just have to make a phone like this okay so you have here this this line and this one here right you’re going to fold but this place here so just fold here make you have this last square here right for chair making this point go up to the middle of this left square here the middle is about here right so what did the this point here and you’re going to fold just this middle part here okay so you see here closely just fold here this part here and do the same thing to all four directions so as you can see I just made here a small square in the video like this okay now you have to make here a mountain fold going from this point here up to this point here okay sorry just okay do the same thing here here due to the same thing go for directions holes directions now you just have to make a valley fold and just show you now you have to make a valley fold here from this point at this point here okay so this man here is a mountain fold and this one here is a valley fold can mountain-fold valley-fold mountain-fold valley-fold so just make sure the fold right I am going to make a valley fold along this line here okay so it’s just like this you have to fold here making this point go up to this point here right and then you fold here from at this point to the right like this and then to fold one second but making this point go up to this point here right so now I have these two lines right do the same thing draw for directions it’s basically the Cossack rules this region here is is based on the con side rules but the base is going to be a little bit different so you can assemble the model just like this right now let me zoom out this part here is me to be a little bit hard now you have to do the following make a mountain fold okay on the mountain fold along this middle square here and along these lines here this one this one this one so you have to memorize this you have to make mountain fold along the middle Square and these lines here take that make this small curve here cause with this reaction that go stretcher to left to right okay just like this so extent and at the same time you do this in the mountain folds here as you can see it’s not possible to make this Falls because the paper is not going to get flat and this is the part their game is going to get 3d so you make these Mountain folds and at the same time you’re going to make Valley folds along these lines here okay Valley folds 39 fold on this line okay and the middle square and Valley folds on this other lines here this part here is which be a little bit hard so make each fold here strongly okay precisely you you must correct this kind of place here okay the fold must be precise that’s it now if you see here at the middle square when I press your both sides at the same time the middle square is going to make a small turn here right just do it press here post type and press the square huge the middle do not press too strongly okay you don’t want to squash the paper just just here the square like this and you’re going to make the room become a cylinder okay this part here is going to be a little bit hard if you fill on practice and something like this you just have to finish here making this valley-fold okay and hold here like this okay and do the same thing here the next line and hold keep doing this a lesson as you can see it became a cylinder and now it’s just the next okay so next step you’re going to fold here on every flat here are these four sides you have to do the same thing something like this you have to make a mountain fold along this line here okay and a valley fold in the next line so let me show the zip point of mountain fold on this and this line and a valley fold on place and face line just my face and keep doing this show for signs keep your model will look like this now we have to make a mountain fold came along this line here key you know you could understand here so it’s just like this you have to put here these two layers okay and make here a mountain fold this square here diagonal just like this okay and at the same time I got you here this layer a little bit and finish finish fold here at this diagram like this no you’re going to make two folds at the same time you’re going to make a valley fold here along this diagonal here of this square okay so far Valley and at the same time you make this fold here you’re going to finish folding the diagonal this square here this part here seems to be really hard when it’s not okay so let me just show you again so you can understand coach here place the diagonal pull here this side then you have to fold here pull this layer keep this side okay and square shear is diagonal like this okay I won’t fast forward this part is to make sure you can make it let’s show you what you make out all the sides I know it’s the same thing but I know maybe it may help you and that’s it the bottom is going to look like this the top parts going to look like this you just have to adjust it to make it look a little bit better right now the bottom side you are going to do the following you have Joe pull here one layer okay just a little bit like this and then we are going to make a reverse fold okay inside that layer along this diagonal here so put this layer okay a reverse fold all this flap here except this small flap here okay select this okay just on one side on on this side and diagonal part here so it’s just the same thing now on this two sides you’re going to do the following your rich Fulcher make a valley fold along the baseline okay then then the richer searcher this flip inside this pocket here just like this do the same thing here so make a valley fold okay that’s it one you have to make eleven more or depending on which type of Sudama you want to make them if you have to make 29 more or maybe five more [Music] so now let’s show okay now let’s see how to assemble the model so you have two models like this okay so you’re going to insert this flap here inside this pocket here just like this not it’s really easy do this okay the problem is when you start to when you start assemble sibling the model these parts are going to are going to get off really easily so you may have to use blue okay and well that’s it you just have to assemble the model like this and after us I bought three roses three pieces you have to close here it’s really not easy to save of this model here it’s going to look like this right now depending on how many how many pieces you want to assemble it’s going to be different so for example I want to make the Sudama with 12 pieces and it’s going to be like this you assemble three pieces and hearing you’re going to assemble four pieces so just have to keep doing this she was released in four pieces so for example here you have four pieces so here you you’re going to make three pieces here also you’re going to make a sable three pieces and here also and here you have three pieces so here you’re going to assemble four pieces and here you’re going to assemble four beasts and that’s it if you keep doing this it’s going to close with 12 12 pieces but if this part here you’ll simple 5 pieces next to the mug will close when you assemble 30 pieces and basically that’s it but as you can see here if I try to save all 5 pieces the first one here is can shut it off pretty easily so I don’t know I really I don’t know if there is a another way to the face but I think you have to put glue in order to make this or you can get rigid otherwise I think you can’t finish the model if you don’t use glue okay okay so the reason we look like this okay just take a close look on how I did a sample the model and just go to the link in the video description if you would see a model mate with 30 pieces and that’s it thanks for watching this video see you [Music] you

  2. I spent over 5 hours to fold that thing in the first time! still better that the gateway, which take forever to fold from 45 pieces of paper!

  9. Thank you very much for the video tutorial Tadashi, it's perfect.
The model that I designed is assembled without glue, unfortunately at the moment I don't have the time to send you the pictures but, in a few days you will have them.
I'm honored that you chose my model for the tutorial and I hope that in the future you will make tutorials for new models created by myself or other romanian origamists.

  10. Very nice tutorial!
Also, you are very welcome to teach any of my original designs if you'd like. 🙂
I'll send you a pm in advance

Realmente FASCINANTE!!!!!!

  15. Thanks for the video! Ur explanation was so easy. The fist time I learnt how to make the rose it took me almost 2 hrs.

  16. I figured that if you use a type of paper that is heavier than kami (I used Color Copy Paper), then the locking mechanism works pretty well, I didn't need to use glue to assemble the model. And the final result is very stable.
