New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute Vesting Bill has first reading


A bill that transfers the New Zealand Maori Arts
and Crafts Institute to the Te Puia entity had its first reading
in the house today. A contingent of Te Arawa people
arrived at parliament to witness the first reading
of the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute Vesting Bill. The institute was established
nearly a century ago in 1926, the key intent of the bill
is to vest control of the facilities with iwi.
