100 thoughts on “Make a Large Vinyl Wall Decal – How to Cut Larger Than Mat on a Cricut!

  1. You have patience galore, and you kept it the whole way through. Wow. That took so much for you to this video. Yes, like the others all said, you hung in there and got it done with all the real issues that can happen. What a job, great video! Did you have a glass of wine after that?

  2. Thank you for the start to finish video. This has helped me to learn how to adjust for large designs. Excellent video!!!!!!
What is the largest size (approx) design that can be created on the cricut maker?

  3. This was so helpful. I am wanting to do a larger than mat project that is mostly words. Do I just slice the same as you did with the purple?

  4. Followed your instructions step by step. When it came time to 'slice', my machine doesn't have it highlighted. Im using a simple, all one colored, svg. Any ideas?

  5. That was a fantastic video, and I’m glad that I came across you on your video on YouTube. I did subscribe and purchase your book on how to setup a crafting room.

  6. awesome video! thank u very much and we would really enjoy it if you show us how to use that cardstock in large quantities.

  7. will you sell that wall decal? I know a certain pro drone pilot that would love it. I do not have the equipment to make it myself.

  8. Thank you for a great step by step tutorial. I would also like to see the paper version. I have been cricuting now for about 4 years and you have become my go-to gal for anything "how to" related! Keep up the amazing work!

  9. I have my own picture with solid colors but the group/ungroup didn't show up nor did it identify my picture had separate colors. Confused. My picture was a bitmap file.

  10. Do you mirror the image, new to this? Great video, yes would love to see one with card stock! Thank you!

  11. Thank you! I love all of your videos! I'd love to learn how to do it with the paper/ cardstock.

  12. What an awesome video. I didn't think it would work out too well but it's perfect. I would really like to see how to do this with card stock please if you can. Thanks Jennifer. Home Run!

  13. GREAT TUTORIAL AS ALWAYS….JUST WONDERING WHAT YOU USED FOR THE BOARD YOU ATTACHED THE VINYL TO….GOOD IDEA TO MAKE THIS A PICTURE THAT CAN BE PASSED ON TO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AS THE CHILD GROWS TOO OLD TO HAVE UNICORNS (WELL MAYBE CHANGE HER MIND BECAUSE WHO IS EVER TOO OLD TO FILL THEIR LIVES WITH UNICORNS…LOL)   THANK YOU

  14. I love my circuts but have much better luck using Oracal vinyl. I will not stand behind any project if I have used cricuts vinyl. It never stays on well and absolutely hate working with it.

  15. Don't even own a cutter but watched your video. Was a long project even with the sped up parts. You have the patience of Job. Well done.

  16. Is anyone else having an issue with the DS plugin? I cannot access my Design Space on my laptop because the plugin window will not allow me to even after downloading it. I have completed all of the steps on the help page, contacted and chatted online with cricut and it still keeps coming back. So frustrating!
I do love the video and can’t wait to try when I get this issue cleared up.

  17. Is it possible to make the purple base layer with the removable vinyl but the pieces layered on top of the purple with permanent vinyl?

  18. Extensive video it was quite informitive and i enjoyed it, why did you not put the heart on the cheek of your unicorn?

  19. Cookie Gift Can Queen sells Sweetex Hi-Ratio shorting on Etsy for home bakers in small quantities for professional tasting icing. Just wanted to share with my fellow bakers a great find!

  20. Great video, but I cringe at how much vinyl and transfer tape you waste! I hope you just spread everything out so much because it was faster for the video, but you could have moved a lot of those pieces much closer together to save on your materials. That stuff is expensive!

  21. Wow, thank you for making this tutorial. You are a true professional. I could never teach like you because I would lose my cool. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

  22. Thanks for such great videos! I'm considering buying a Cricut and want to make sure I'm not getting in over my head. I feel confident after watching a bunch that I can do this (and justify the expense to my non-maker partner!)

  23. Awesome video! I just received the cricut maker and I have a question about mats. My bundle had a blue and pink mat. Can I use a blue mat for vinyl? Thank you! 🙂

  24. Thank you for this awesome video Jennifer! I've learned so many new techniques with your tutorials, I can't thank you enough. Thank you so much for the wonderful job you do!

  25. Great tutorial. Thank you for your time showing such a large project. It really does help to see all kinds of projects done. Thank you!!

  26. Awesome video! Thank you 🙂

Would this video also work if I wanted to put a decal on a dresser?

  27. Does anyone else have issues with her facebook link in the description taking you to some lady's page? Lol

  28. Jennifer,
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your videos. I recently had someone else I follow offer a video on how to avoid the top mistakes people make with their Cricut. It was a one hour sales pitch for the “Master” class being sold for over $200. A big waste of time. It did, however, give me an even greater appreciation for your hard work on the in depth videos you produce. Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and insights at no charge.

This video in particular was SO much clearer and easier than another one I already watched. Breaking it into the large mats is key. I’ll be investing in large mats for a large stenciling project that’s been on my “some day” list for a couple of years.

Thanks again for all you do to help us at home crafters.

  29. Thank you! Although I probably won't be doing this design. This video convinced me to buy a Circuit machine. I have been looking at them for years. I love that the newest machine cuts fabric. You are amazing keep going with your channel. I have now subscribed and I hope to watch many more and learn from you. I absolutely love that you didn't assume that we know everything. People that are new to this really need the detail.

  30. Wow! Jennifer, very good demo. My son wants to make stencils to stick on the wall and then paint and remove the stencils. So I am helping him look for ways to do that. I am in the UK so I am hoping some craft store has all the equipment.
I was going to ask whether the Cri-cuit (which I think looks like Cry-Kut rather than Cricket!) Design is for Mac but I see you are using a Mac (yes!) & presumably Safari or some other browser works well. Thanks for all your hard work. You must be very experienced at smoothing vinyl with your hand – I have to have a big soft fabric-pad or I end up with creases and bubbles!!

  31. I am trying to make wall decals for my daughter’s room using the printable vinyl, is this the right material to use. Also I kind of wanted a clear back ground (I really don’t want that white border around my images) but I am unsure if that is the right material or if I can even find that, would you have any advice?

  32. My daughter wants a vinyl decal on her wall but we have textured walls. Do you think vinyl would be a nightmare trying to smooth it on that surface? Thank you so much! I LOVEEEEEEEEE your video's.

  33. I UNDERSTAND THE SEPARATION OF THE LAYERS TO SLICE ONLY TWO AT A TIME, BUT I'M TRYING TO CREATE A PROJECT WHERE I WANT MY PERSONAL PICTURES PRINTED ON THE ACTUAL IMAGE THEN HAVE IT SLICED AFTERWARDS. IS THIS POSSIBLE BECAUSE I'VE BEEN TRYING

  34. Jennifer I am trying to do this and I get it all aligned. I click on the black space which appears to also select the print in that block but SLICE does not lite up. How are you selecting both black and purple here? Mine wants to select that black square but also the entire print which would be all the purple in your video. ???

  35. Jennifer,
Loved this video. I've only made a few vinyl projects , mostly paper crafts. I would love if you could do the paper version of this . Thanks .

  36. I am having a hard time with the removable vinyl coming off the transfer tape and sticking to the wall. I just wasted a whole roll of vinyl and transfer tape! 😫 Any tips??

  37. You are so patient and explain everything so well. I am new to the Cricut world and your videos are teaching me so much. Thank you!

  38. Hi I am trying to make a sing like this"Merry Christmas", size 23.4"x10" whe. I send to pront and cut does nit let do it, there is a message, the machine not support and send me to change the size, what can I do?
I do have a crixut maker machine.
    Thank you.
