Judge orders pinwheels removed from Benton Co. Courthouse


KELLY: A LOCAL JUDGE DELAYED A SEXUAL-ASSULT TRIAL BECAUSE OF A DISPLAY OF PINWHEELS OUTSIDE THE COURTHOUSE. THERE ARE 439 PINWHEELS OUTSIDE THE BENTON COUNTY COURTHOUSE, EACH SIGNIFYING A CONFIRMED CASE OF CHILD ABUSE IN THE COUNTY. THE DEFENDANT’S ATTORNEY ASKED THE JUDGE FOR A DELAY, SAYING THE PINWHEEL DISPLAY COULD INFLUENCE A JURY. THE JUDGE AGREED AND THE TRIAL IS NOW SET FOR JUNE. THE CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTE
