Introducing Debbie Shore’s New CHRISTMAS Fabrics | Hobbycraft

my name is Debbie Shore and I’m an author
of now 22 sewing books I design fabric Deck The Halls is actually my third
range of fabric and there’s a lot more in the pipeline, and I’m a pattern designer
as well – mainly soft toys and bags – I live in Lincolnshire with my husband
Gary who’s my photographer, and dog Bobbin who’s always keeping me company
she’s asleep at the side of me now and we have three cats and a whole load
of fish. The thing I love about Christmas time is making presents for the family
and that could be anything from Christmas stockings for my two
granddaughters, gift wrap made out of fabric, gift bags all the way through to
the tablecloth and table runners and placemats and anything I can do to
decorate the house with fabric basically. But then of course there’s the main
gifts as well so I may be making bags this year, I may be making items of
clothing, or it may be homeware – something like cushion covers but I
can’t tell you that. The fabric ranges I have are all very personal, so my first
fabric range was called A Cottage Garden, which is actually the cottage that we
live in and the garden and the flowers and the birds and the wildlife that are
in there. My second range was called Lilly Pad. I mentioned we had fish and we’ve got a
large pond and the lillies. the garden furniture, everything was incorporated
into the fabric design and there are they’re all my sketches as well so I
actually draw everything myself. And then pass it on to the incredible designers
at the craft cotton company who make it suitable to make fabric house of. Deck
The Halls is my latest range of fabric. there are 10 prints in the range and is
quite traditional for the reds and greens from baubles poinsettias and
Christmas Robins but there’s some nice kind of gray and taupe colors as well, so
you can create some very modern looking items for your home with my Christmas
fabric. I’m imagining you making little girls dresses and pyjamas and dressing
gowns. I’m imagining lovely long table runners with borders around it and maybe
incorporating a little bit of quilting, maybe placemats. I’ve even
seen jewelry made out of some of the pieces. And of course the Christmas
stockings are going to look superb in this in this lovely fabric. I’m so
pleased with it. I love the quality and I love the colors that they’ve used as
well. I like to start sewing for Christmas around about July time so I know
I’ve got everything all finished and all well in advance, so the Christmas
presents are underway, the Christmas stockings are already made, and of course
as there’s always the gift bags. I like lots and lots of gift bags because when
you make them out of fabric you can reuse them year after year after year
so they’re not going to be thrown away.
