How to Set Up a Sand Art Station | Sophie’s World

hi I’m Sophie and welcome to my world I
do a ton of sand art so today I have a sand art station tip for you if you’re
going to set up a sand art station for a lot of people or even just for a few
there are a couple different ways to do it and I want to show you the two ways
that I’ve found that work best for setting up a sand art station I’m going to
show you that right now so there’s a couple schools of thought for sand art
one is to use a bin this is how I’ve seen it done by other companies and it
works beautifully it’s great the thing that I find about it is that
you get a whole lot of hands into your sand and you know people just have a
tendency to really like get messy with this
I mean sand art can get a little messy in general but
this technique it tends to get a little messier than my bottle version which
I’ll show you in just a second here so you are gonna want to make sure that you
have a funnel and what you would do is create your bins and I would also say
you’re gonna want to have what I call a catch-all tray and you’re gonna have
little cups and then you use those little cups to just pour the sand into
the funnel now as you can see though you know you’re very prone to like
overshooting and over filling and lots and lots of sand going all over the
place but you know what this is a nice easy way to use sand art one thing that
I do want to caution you against is if you’re outdoors and in the wind you’ve got
to be very very careful of this technique because the wind can catch the
sand and blow it all over the place the other technique is to use these bottles
now these are saucing bottles and I was able to get these at Costco they’re
really inexpensive I think by the time I was said and done they were like 75
cents a bottle and the saucing tips here come out of you know a variety of sizes
here you can cut it has like little lines that you can cut at whatever size
you want so you can go very thin or you can get it larger and larger and larger
and one thing that I have discovered with sand art is that the sand depending
on the color of the sand the sand sometimes has different consistencies
and so sometimes you need a bigger hole than you do for other you know one color
needs a bigger hole than you do for the other and as you can see though it’s
really easy you see how this comes out nice and easy for a kid you just turn it
over put it in there and it just all flows out nicely and you know they
squeeze it and that makes that sand come out as quickly as they need it to come
out or you can do it just by dumping it
upside down like that and you can see that it comes out a little bit slower so
you have a little bit more control with the bottles I think than you do with the
bin but both techniques are good techniques for creating your sand art
these are best outdoors these are going to keep you from the wind no problem and
also what’s great about these is that you can see your colors very very easily
and people can just take them to wherever they want to go with them they
can actually take them with them as opposed to having to work at the table
so there you have it two different ways of doing your sand art station now
remember the other thing that I always suggest about sand art make sure you
have a little sweeper and a broom because you know what a lot of the times
that sand art will like to find its way onto the ground so if you are outside
that might not be an issue but if you’re inside make sure you have one of those
little pick-me-up brooms for more great tips check us out at sophie-world.com
