How To Make The Perfect Sandcastle

How To Make The Perfect Sandcastle

Hi, this is geologist Jerry Bergosh from
Jurassic Sands and I’m going to show you how to make the perfect sand castle.
I’ve been doing geology for over 40 years so I’ve got a lot of experience
with sand, but my best experiences when I was a kid I grew up on a beach I grew up
on a lake and I spent every day at the beach playing in the sand. So, I’ve got a
lot of experience practical experience. So, what we’ve got here is
some of our Original Jurassic Sand mixed up got one of our professionals sand molds,
because we want to show you the best on this demonstration. But before we do that
let me show you how you make sure that you’ve got the right amount of water. I
went ahead and premix some water in here. The rule of thumb is about it’s
about 1 cup of water to 3 to 4 cups of sand to get started. You don’t have exact
amount of water but what’s important is to go ahead and make a sandball. This is the sand ball
test it’s like making a snow ball but you make a sand ball. When rolling
around in your hand and it holds together you’ve got the right amount of
water mixed with the sand. I’m just going to demonstrate by doing
this if if if it cracks open like that while you’re rolling it around, without
poking your finger in it, then it needs a little bit more water. Mix it up really
good and that’s the first key to a sand castle after you’ve got the water in
here make sure that you’ve got the sand and the water mix really well. That’s the
first thing to know. So here’s the second trick to the
perfect sandcastle, pack it in there really good. Now this is a very complex
mold, this is a very hard mold, but that’s why it’s the professional mold. So I’m
going to make sure that I’ve got that sand in there and it’s really good settled.
Then we’re going to flip it over. okay that’s about filled up just right. ok so here we go. Let’s flip this over all right
you can hear my hound dog in the background.
That’s our special effect. Ok I’ve flipped the sand mold over.
here’s the third tip, it’s a regular kitchen spoon, but I always recommend
that you use something dense. because it’s dense you can hear that when I tap with
the dense spoon. This will help the sand release from the crevices and the small
spots in the sand mold. Ok now here’s of the final tip after
you’ve tapped it really well while you’re tapping it you want to be pulling up on
the mold with just a little bit of pressure. To pull up and as you’re tapping you’ll
see it release. Look at that. No sand is left inside. It is a beauty
with perfect detail we’ve got all the turrets every one of
the steps in this and the rocks of the sand castle or perfect. So just a quickly
review you want to make sure you’ve got the right consistency of the sand. So do
the sand ball test. You want to make sure that you’re packing it in there really
well getting all the little spots filled up with sand and then after you flip it
over. Tap it with something dense like that
like a spoon while you’re pulling up and it’ll release out of the mold and you will
have the perfect sandcastle. So thanks for tuning in and get out there make
some sandcastles.
