How to make an Origami Vase (Tadashi Mori)

Hello there everybody! I am Tadashi Mori and in this video here I will show you how to make this origami vase. It’s my own design made with an hexagon with about 60 cm. As you can see, we can put several flowers in it. So , let’s start! To make this model we’re going to start with a square sheet of paper with about 60 cm or 24 in. We’ll start by making an hexagon from this square sheet of paper. So, start by folding the paper in half. Now, fold again in half, in this direction. Now, unfold and fold here this side of the paper up to the middle line, but you’re just going to fold here the top part, like this. Now, you’re going to fold making this point here go up to this line. So, the model will look like this. Now, turn the model over and fold this side of the paper up to the middle line. Now, fold along the middle line. Turn the model over. Fold along this line here. Now, turn the model over and fold this side of the paper like this. So, the model will look like this. Now, you’re going to fold only one layer. As you can see, you have this point here you’re going to fold using this point as a reference and align this side here, making a 90 degree’s fold. As you can see, this part is align with the middle layer. Now, you’re going to cut along this line here. And we have here an hexagon. So, open the model up to this point. Now, you’re going to keep folding. this layers, like this. Making mountain folds and valley folds in sequence. along the big lines. And the model should look like this. Now, if you’re using a thin paper you can fold the next step, like this So , you have to fold making this point here go up to this line here. But, you’re just going to pinch the middle. Unfold. And if you’re using a thick paper, you should open the model and do this step one by one. So, folding this point up to the middle point one by one. And just pinch the middle. Now, fold the model back to this point here. Now, you’re going to fold this point here up to the fold we just made. Unfold. Now, you’re going to make a fold making this point here go up to the middle Iine. And the top part of the fold should go exactly to the same point as the first fold. So, the folds should look like this. Now, do the same thing to all the other layers. And the model will look like this. Now, you’re going to make a fold making this side of the paper go up to this line here. And do the same thing to all the other layers. Now, unfold the model and the lines should look like this. Now, you’re going to make a fold from this point uo to this point here, like this. Now, do the same thing here and keep doing this to all the layers. All the folds are going to look like this. Just to make it easier. Make here mountain folds along these line we just made. So, the next step is going to be easier. And finally with all the reference points, we’re going to make the vase. So, first of all you’re going to make this ”V” shaped fold. Like this. And you should always fold along the lines you already made Now here you’re going to make this fold here. So, the layer get locked in the right position, like this. Now, you’re going to do the same thing here, on the next one. And basically, you just have to keep doing the same thing to all the layers. And finally, the last one is going to be
the hardest one. Of course, if you use a big paper, it’s going to be way easier. This one here is a little bit small. Carefully, you just have to make the fold along the inner layer. Now, adjust the bottom part and that’s it! The model is done. And, of course, if you use a better paper you’ll get a better result, like this one. So, I hope you liked this video. 7. if u mountain fold the triangle shaped fold near the bottom and do it on all all sides, it looks like a volcano when u sit it.

  8. Nice video, but how can the paper be 60 cm.? Your hand is half the size of the paper, so that means that you have giant hands! (30 cm.)
