How to make a paper dove

How to make a paper dove

Hi, this is Joelle Meijer. I will show you how to create this dove with
fanfold wings. For a dove, you need Bristol paper and a sheet
of white paper. To help you create this dove, use the pattern
from the printable document to trace the body of the dove. Place the pattern of the body of the dove
on the Bristol paper or if you want a more durable project, on 14-ply cardboard. Trace the outline of the body of the dove
with a pencil. Also draw an horizontal line about an inch
long in the middle of the body of the dove. Next, cut the outline of the body with scissors. Cut a slit in the horizontal line you drew
in the middle of the body of the dove. Use small scissors for the Bristol paper or an x-acto knife if you chose 14-ply cardboard. If you want, you can even colour the beak
orange and make black dots for eyes. Take a sheet of paper and fold it like an
accordion on the short side of the sheet. When you are done folding the entire length
of the paper, slide the fanfolded paper through the slit. Divide the folded paper evenly on both sides
of the body of the bird. The fanfolds form the wings of the dove. Stretch the wings slightly to give them more
volume If you do this project with a group, you could hang all the doves from the ceiling
to form a beautiful flight of doves. To access the printable document with step
by step instructions and the pattern, click on the link below the video.
