Design Dye. Making Custom T Shirts www.designdye.com
Hey guys what’s up. We’re going to be making a t shirt today using the Design Dye Basic
Fabric Kit. Here is the Design Dye sheet. It has two sides, we have the dye side in
blue and the Design Dye logo on the back. Alright so all you have to do is decide what
design you want, cut it out and iron it, super easy. So I’m going to do one for my buddy
Josh. I’m going to do one with penguins on it because he really likes penguins. So all
you have to dro is lightly draw or transfer an image to the back side of the design. Great
so once you have your design ready to go, all you have to do is cut it out. You can
use scissors or a craft knife, and I have scissors so I’m just going to go ahead and
use these. (cutting sound) There we go, a penguin for Josh. So now we have our design
and we have our shirt we are going to use. Make sure it’s pre-washed and since we’re
using a 100% cotton shirt, we’re going to use the Design Dye Fabric Prep. And this is
going to help the Design Dye fuse to the shirt, and it makes it permanate and washable. The
fabric prep is included in the Basic Fabric Kit. (spraying soud) Ok, so now I’ve sprayed
it and now we just need to let it dry. I can speed this up by using a hair dryer, or I
could just let it air dry. Ok so we have our shirt prepped, we have our design…let’s
put our design color side down where we want it and now we’re ready to iron. Ok so here
we have a pretty standard iron. If you’re using a dry iron that’s even better. If not,
go ahead and drain the water and turn off any steam function. Turn it up to the cotton
/ linnen setting and get it to the right temperature. And remember, NO STEAM. All irons are different
so it’s best to test the temperature of your iron. So I’m going to grab a piece of scrap
fabric, similar to the one that I’m going to be using and I’m going to throw on a sheet
or two of the protective ironing tissue. I’m going to move it slowly but constantly for
the next 25 to 30 seconds. Now you want to adjust the iron down only if the fabric scortches
or becomes brittle. Ok so we’re all set. So now we’re going to put on a few pieces of
the protective ironing tissue and these are also included in the Design Dye Basic Fabric
Kit. So here we go. So pushing down a bit firmly, you don’t have to muscle it but
give it a little pressure. And we’re going to move the iron slowly but constantly for
25 – 35 seconds. Alright let’s take a look. Wow. And now it’s part of the fabric. You
can wear this, you can wash it, it’s all non-toxic. I really think my buddy josh is going to love
it. Check this out, it came out so awesome and it was really easy to do, it works for
all kinds of projects. Visit DesignDye.com to see more project ideas and to share your
