Easy Arts and Crafts Painting Projects : Painting Fabric: Fabric Design & Material

Welcome to expertvillage.com. I am Angela
Sage Larsen. I hope you will visit my website at petalwinkthefairy.com. In painting fabric
you will want to think about what it is that you are actually going to paint. In this case
I am going to paint a tote bag and you will always check the label. Usually you want to
wash the fabric before you paint on it, to remove any kind of an adhesive or a stiffener
that they might use on the fabric so that it looks clean and fresh. In this case the
tote bag actually had a label that says ready to paint, and that means that it did not need
to be washed beforehand. But you could paint T-shirts, you could paint on denim, usually
something with a little bit of a cotton content will accept the paint a little bit better,
but you do not need to prime it, you do not need to do anything other than prepare the
surface by washing it. Here is a T-shirt that I painted; this T-shirt is 50-50 which means
it is 50% polyester and 50% cotton.
