Today we’re making Moon Sand! Which is a fun 90’s theme project. It’s a moldable sand that brings the fun of the beach into your classroom. If you’re a teacher and you have a sand box this is a great way for you to control your sand,
If you’re a teacher and you have a sand box this is a great way for you to control your sand, so it doesn’t get everywhere. And it’s moldable. When you squish it, it turns back into regular sand.
When you squish it, it turns back into regular sand. And if you want to, you can squish it again, and it will be able to hold it’s own shape. Lets go ahead and get started with today’s project! The items that you’ll need for todays project include: First take about two cups of sand and create a small volcano. So that you can mix your cornstarch into it. Take about 1 cup of cornstarch and mix it into your sand.
Take about 1 cup of cornstarch and mix it into your sand. Once your sand and cornstarch have mixed together go ahead and create another small volcano. Take your half cup of water and pour it into your mixture. Initially your water will have a hard time mixing in with the cornstarch and sand,
Initially your water will have a hard time mixing in with the cornstarch and sand, but go ahead and start folding them in together until all the water has been mixed into the sand. Once you’ve mixed in the water into the Moon Sand, you’ll notice that the texture of the sand starts to change and becomes
you’ll notice that the texture of the sand starts to change and becomes moldable. To give it a more runny kind of feel you can add more or less water. Depending on how you actually want to mold it, if you want to add more water, my suggestion is to use a water squirter to slowly add small amounts of water to your Moon Sand, So that it could either be runny or not. If you add too much water to your Moon Sand
or not. If you add too much water to your Moon Sand it becomes runny and becomes really similar to Oobleck. Check out our Oobleck vides to see what Oobleck is. Don’t worry too much about ruining the Moon Sand, because the water will actually dry from the Moon Sand,
ruining the Moon Sand, because the water will actually dry from the Moon Sand, and eventually crumble and harden and start acting like regular sand again. Once you’ve made your Moon Sand go aheald and mold it into the desired shape you want to make. You’ll notice that it’s pretty easy to actually mold, using different molds. Compared to regular sand that just has sand and water,
Compared to regular sand that just has sand and water, it doesn’t hold or come out as easy or as clean compared to the Moon Sand. To store your Moon Sand you could either keep it in it’s regular shape and let it dry in that shape
you could either keep it in it’s regular shape and let it dry in that shape or you can crumble it up and turn it back into its regular sand and cornstarch mixture. To restore Moon Sand back into its
regular sand and cornstarch mixture. To restore Moon Sand back into its malleable form, just add a small amount of water and mix it into the Moon Sand. If you’re a teacher or someone that has an indoor sandbox, this is a great way for you to actually have a better range of control for your sand and have fun like you would at the beach without having to worry about the weird
have fun like you would at the beach without having to worry about the weird moldy smell that regular sand and water can create, if its left out too long. Thank again for watching Get Crafty Crafty!
