Dior Lady Art #3 – Interview with POLLY APFELBAUM

Mr Dior was a gallerist before
he was a fashion designer, so I was really interested
that the House of Dior is very art savvy… Suave! Well, it started out
as a series of prints that were made in Pennsylvania. We were using
a lot of different shapes, basic shapes, triangles,
circles, diamonds, and making pinwheels, and also certain kinds of flowers
were coming forward in the designs. It was called
‘Atomic Landscapes’. They were based on futurist flowers
of the artist Balla. And then there’s also
the star, the charm, we made a metal charm.
