christmas tag reindeer tag art craft crazy

feeling a little art craft crazy… hi it’s
Christmastime and it’s come around so very fast from last year to this year my
name is Donna and I’m from our craft crazy and I’m going to give out a free
printable to everyone this Christmas and it is the Merry Christmas Rudolph the
red-nose reindeer round-topped tag all you have to do is go to my website and
download the printable I’ve got three tags on the printable you can print it
on as heavier card stock as you can if your printer won’t print on very
heavy cardstock I’ll show you how to get it onto a nice thick cardstock rubbles
flimsy stuff here that will make a much better tag for you
so once you’ve printed that out we’re then going to make it heavier and we’re
going to color the edges and we’re also going to put a shiny nose on Rudolph you
can put a piece of ribbon on his antlers if you like or you can just leave them
plain you can have any color on the edges you like or you can even leave it
plain you can cut out inside the black line or outside whatever you would
prefer to have on your finish so how we’ll get this started is I’ve got some
heavier card stock here this is 300 GSM just in an A4 and this is a hundred and
twenty five GSM so I’m just going to cut across here and then glue that down now just to save
a bit of time I’ll just use this one because I’ve already done it on here so
once you’ve glued that down let it dry and then cut off your individual cards
like I said you can cut on the outside or the inside of that black line now I’m
going to leave the black line on on this one and I’m going to cut my straight
line first and then I’m going to cut the curved top fit by hand
so I’ve just got my ruler on the very outside of that black line just enough
that it when I cut it off that I don’t see too much of the white paper so then
I’ll continue by coming up the side of the tag and just cutting around it
stay on that black line as close to the edge as you can there any areas like
that that you see that didn’t cut out properly just go back and fix them up now we’re going to put a little bit of
distress ink on the outside I’m going to do a two color method I’m going to use
some vintage photo so that will be a bit like this one so a little bit of the
vintage photo very lightly first and then I’ll put the festive berries on the
outside now if you get your lip back of your tag all dirty and messed up all
you’re doing this I’ll show you another little tip how you can keep the back
clean I’ve just got some sticky note paper and I’ve made a little template
and that fits perfectly on the back so just using the sticky note part of it
there just stick that down but that’ll keep it nice and clean like
that one that’s a piece of the ribbon where I poke the holes through okay so
we can turn that on here now and start coloring now to get that really light
color I always pat on my ink and take it off
on to my paper then I start coming in very lightly into the tag do it again
and take all the color off and come back in very lightly into the center towards
the center of the tag it does go a long way this color and I don’t need to load
up too much take it off if you don’t take it off you’ll get distinct lines so
for this technique to work you really do need to take it off first you can see
you could leave it like that there’s nothing wrong with leaving it like that
but if you want the to color effect come in with the second color the festive
berries I’ll just change my little pad I’m going to do the same again only this
time oh I will take it off and come in just to have a bit of a look at how it’s
going to work and get some light in towards the center take it off again also you mean a bit so you can see
better too take it off just circular motions or
whatever works for you and just stopping short of the first layer of color that
we put down so you only want a hint of that first layer of color you don’t want
a lot now see how the black line is still
around the tag it’s showing up quite nicely so you can now go in with a full
color and you can either use the red the berry color around the edge or you can
use a the black sort or you can use the vintage photo whatever color that you
like now if you want to go darker again like I’ve done on this sample tag you
just put your color on take a little bit off and just come into the edge just a
tiny little bit don’t go too far in you don’t need to put too much color on take
a little bit off again just say you haven’t got that sudden color going on
just slightly coming in and that will give you a lovely gradation of color
it’ll never be perfect I mean you could you might be a really good blender and
practice and practice and and get it perfect but I always get a bit of
variation but that is you tag now coloured anything left to do is is color
his nose we’re going to put a little bit of red Copic marker now this is also
optional you don’t have to do this pop this here I just do this just to get it
nice and and so because he’s got a glowing nose try and miss the white bits the
highlights there and just go close into them so that
gives him a much redder nose than the printout shows this one here for
instance gives him a little bit of makeup all right now we can get some
Nouveau drops in white and where that original glow was there we can put a
drop of the Nouveau drops there and you can leave it there if you’ve got any
glossy accent or any dimensional magic when your Nouveau drop is dry you can
put this over the top and that’s what gives him his shiny nose now this one
here I got a lot of air bubbles in it because I picked the bottle up and and
put a few air bubbles in it went on I got a bit heavy-handed and picked it up
and and the bubbles formed so I’m being extra careful this time not to do that
so I’ll just let that nouveau drop dry for a little bit and I will then put the
dimensional magic over the top of his nose but in the meantime I’m going to be
very careful and punch the hole in the top of the tag you can also go ahead and
use your whole reinforcer to put over that there if you wanted to because I
finished with the back on I know I’ve kept that nice and clean now I can take
that off pop that in there and punch my hole I’ve
marked the hole for you so you can just punch it straight out you can pop some
red ribbon in there some gold ribbon in there or whatever you like
now these little tags that’d be fine to hang on a Christmas tree or use for a
present or you could pop them in your travelers notebook and give them as a
gift and I think they’d look pretty good like that okay I think that should be
dry enough for me to go ahead and put some dimensional magic onto his nose now
when you use this you just start in the middle and let it pile right up so I’ve
got a good blob there and I’m just going to gently help it I’m going to use this
fine skewer and gently help it around the nose take your time when you do this
right yeah now when that dries it will dry clear and then he will have a shiny
nose all it needs then is a piece of ribbon and it’s finished well here the glossy accents are dry and
by far it has give the better finish and the shinier nose this is the dimensional
magic and I put this straight on the red Copic marker that I used to put on his
nose earlier and it’s gone a bit yellowy even though it’s raised higher it’s
nowhere near as good a finish as the glossy accents so the glossy accents
gave the better finish and this is the dimensional magic and I actually put a
little bit of a clear glue underneath it just to give a bit of a barrier between
the paper and the dimensional magic so that one worked all right it didn’t go
as yellow as this one sort of went off colour a bit bit or eg but it still
works but it’s just nowhere near as good as the glossy accents that’s a nice easy
Christmas tag for you to make so head on over to my website I’ve got it there for
you it’s a free printable print it out color it up and it’s all ready to go I’m
Donna from art craft crazy… Merry Christmas
and bye for now
