Dr. Beresford, this has been a great meeting and I know as a school board we’re ready to get the year started.
How about Carmel Clay Schools? Is everybody ready? [Dr. Beresford] That is a great question! I trust that’s happening but we better verify. Why don’t we start with
Transportation. Let me give them a call here. I got them on speed dial! Hey transportation this is Dr.
Beresford over at central office. I’m meeting with the school board and we’re kind of wanting to get an update. Are we all ready to go for the 2018-2019 school year? Hi Dr. Beresford, we at the Transportation Department have our fleet of a 189 buses and our staff of drivers and monitors all ready for the first day of school! We want parents to know that their bus
information which is bus stop location, pick-up and drop-off times, driver’s name
and bus number can all be found on their MyCCS account. And remember, be at that bus stop five minutes early! Wow! That’s a lot of buses and a lot of bus drivers! Thanks for getting all of that organized! Sounds like we are ready to roll! Wow, 16,000 students with transportation, thank you for getting them safely to our schools. They need to eat… how about Food Service, are they read to go? Yeah, that’s a lot of lunches right there. I better call Jennifer in Food Service and make sure everything is OK. I have her on speed dial, too. Hey Jennifer, Dr. Beresford over here at
central office and we just want to check in with you to see if we’re all good to go. I’m meeting with the school board and we’re just curious to make sure food service is ready. Yes! we are absolutely ready to start the school year. I’m actually at the high school right now with Holly, let me put you on speakerphone. Hey Dr. Beresford, we are ready to rock
and roll and feed these kids some healthy school lunches! And a reminder to
parents that they can go to www.EZSchoolPay.com to add money to their kids’ lunch account. Students and parents can also download the Meal Viewer To Go App on their tablet or iPhone to view nutritionals and menus. That’s fantastic! Uh, will there be cookies? You bet! And they are really great whole-grain cookies! Oh that is fabulous. Alright, talk to you later bye-bye. School safety is definitely on our minds and the minds of our community. What about our school resource officers, are they ready for the school year? I’ve been meeting with Segeant Schoeff all through the summer and I’m pretty sure they are, but let’s just give them a call just to confirm. I’ve got him on the top of my any on the top of my speed dial list. Sergeant Schoeff, Dr. Beresford over here at central office. I’m meeting with the school board here and we’re going over preparations for the new school year. Are our SROs ready to go? Our team is very excited about the new school year. We’ve been evaluating our school safety plans all summer and we’ve been talking with people all across the country on how to
improve our plans and we look forward to a safe year here at Carmel Clay Schools. Yes, we are also ready to educate and provide mentorship to our students on
positive attitudes, behavior and character. We’re ready to build these
relationships with the staff and students again this year. Our doors are always open if the situation should arise. We are really looking forward to creating that culture of care in our district and working alongside staff, students and parents so they can be the the eyes and ears to help keep our schools safe. Remember, if you see something, say something. How about the principals, are
they ready? I’m pretty sure they’re ready but let’s start with a call to the elementary group they’re a dynamic group of school leaders. Hey Dr. Beresford! How are you doing? Great to hear from you! Our elementary crew, are you guys ready to go? I’ve got all elementary school principals here and we were actually just talking about that very topic. We are so excited to start the school year. Hey let me put you on speakerphone so you can talk to everybody. I’ve got Dr. Beresford on the phone guys, are you excited to start the
school year or what? Yeah! He just wanted to know some back to school tips for parents and students so I thought we’d share some of our ideas that we have. I think it’s super important that
our parents and students connect on social media with their principals in
schools because there’s so much great information out there. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for all of the back-to-school and meet the teacher dates! Our students should get ready to meet their teachers and make new friends! We have a wonderful partnership with the community and we are really excited for
another great school year at Carmel Clay Schools. I’m gonna call the middle
school principals now to see what they are up to. Hey! Heard the middle school crew is over there, are you guys doing alright? Hi Dr. Beresford, we just
want to remind our students and parents that the middle school will be providing all school supplies this year. We want make sure students keep those supplies organized as well as their locker. It’s very important to keep that locker clean and organized to be successful. One of the biggest tips I think we want to
give middle school students and parents is just to be involved. Be active, be
engaged in the middle school. The experience is what they make of it. My advice is for our parents and students in the carpool lane. Last year, being the new guy, I was stuck there and was honked at several times so I’m
looking forward to a more peaceful experience in the carpool lane this year. Hey that sounds great! You middle school guys and gals got it going on so I really appreciate your work there and taking care of the kids in the middle.
It’s a tough age and you’re doing a great job. Talk to you later, bye-bye. Alright, we’ve got one more level to check. Let’s see what’s going on in Greyhound Nation. I’ll call Dr. Harmas. Hey Dr. Harmas, Mike bearsford here
know you and your team are meeting. How’s it going? Are we ready for
the 2018-19 school year there in the land of the Greyhounds? Yeah we have some great ideas to share with students before school begins. Here, let me put you on speakerphone. With over 150 clubs, there are so many ways to get involved! We’re looking forward to seeing all the kids at registration. Look forward to
seeing old friends and meeting a lot of new ones! and it is great to be a Greyhound! Fall sports are right around the corner and I’ve got your tickets right here! Hey we can’t wait til school begins, looking forward to seeing everybody! Fantastic! Boy there is a lot going on at Carmel High School and it’s going to be an awesome year. We really appreciate you and your team’s work. How about our fabulous teachers, are they they ready? Our teachers are fabulous and they’ve been in professional development all
summer long and working hard to get ready for this school year so I’m I’m sure they’re ready to go but let’s let’s call Pete O’Hara, our association
president and touch base with him to see what we can find out. Hi Dr. Beresford! We are excited about this school year. I’ve got a group of teachers with me right now. You know, over 500 teachers participated in over 30 different professional development activities. 600 teachers also went to the #C4 Conference! Have you guys seen this book? I’ve been reading conscious discipline, it is so good for the classroom And of course, I have to read all the
young Hoosier books this year. I cannot wait to implement some of these Jennifer Serravallo lessons in my classroom this year. I’m excited! I was lucky enough to
travel up to Chicago for a tech conference with 16,000 teachers called ISTE. I got to travel to the University of Texas-Arlington where I got to teach teachers
how to teach AP seminar. It was really inspiring and engaging. All right, as you can see, I think we are ready to go for the 2018-19 school year.
It’s hard to believe how many different people and how many teams are involved
to make this one special day happen and to repeat that for another 179 days is
just remarkable. So hey students, there you have it, we are
ready to go for the 2018-19 school year. We cannot wait to see you and your
teachers are ready and everybody’s excited. August 14th is right around the corner so
pack those backpacks get ready to roll it’s going to be a fantastic year. Just
remember, together we’re better!
