Calligraphy in the Western World : Designs With Calligraphy Lettered Inside of Circle

So what’s the trick? The trick is alright,
that you keep having to turn the; turn your circle so that you’re coming straight towards
the center. So first I sketched in with a pencil to make sure that I was going to manage
to get this whole thing working out right. It’s not like you can do it when you cut out
with a straight line. It’s just must more off the top of your head. So I would just
keep turning the paper and going like this. Now here’s another example of a piece that
I did writing in a circle, this is called “Virtue’s Reward”. And here’s yet another
example of writing in a circle when I chose not to have the writing go around the circle
but just to be within the circle. This is another one of those reverse designs, I started
out with black letters on white ground and had it photo-mechanically reversed. And finely
I’d like to draw your attention to this piece which I did with a big heart and the letters
are actually negative spaces; so I traced the letters. And in this case rather than
having the wording go all the way around, go all the way around; I did “Treasure” this
way and then “Your Island” this way. So I’m not quite sure that I pleased everybody by
having this be in black and white but I think my original idea was that this would be a
color in. So that’s what I have to say about calligraphing in a circle. Next we’re going
to do some more circle work.
