Kindness This year summer turned out to be very hot. The sun was rather hot and was heating the air so much that it was hard to breathe. The animals didn’t want to come out of their lairs; they even didn’t want to hunt or to walk in such heat. Birds were tired of the heat too, and it seemed that they were lazy to sing, you could hardly hear tired bird’s twittering here or there. Only the ants didn’t stand still even for a moment. As though they didn’t feel the heat and were nonstop running and working. Either they were carrying huge grains or some fallen leaves to their homes. Nearby there was flowing the stream. Its outfall was in high mountains and it still was keeping freshness of those high rocks. One tired ant came up to the bank of the stream. It hasn’t taken rest the whole day and decided to cool off and drink some water. When it bent down to drink some water, suddenly the stream wave grasped the ant and dropped into the water. Frightened ant was waving its little hands but anyway could help itself. Nearby in the tree leaves there was hiding the pigeon. Suddenly it saw a poor ant. The pigeons guessed that without helping the ant would sink, but there was no one to help it. Everything happened so fast that its friends didn’t notice anything. Pigeon flew quickly from its hiding place, broke a small branch from a free, flew to the ant and stretched out the branch. The ant quickly climbed up the branch and pigeons saved it. As soon as the ant touched the ground, it started thanking its savor: “I will forget your behavior. Once I will definitely be useful for you and I’ll help you.” – said the ant. The bird smiled at these words: “Why would I need help from this little weak ant?” “Live calmly, I don’t need anything from you.” – said the pigeon and went back to its nook, shaded place. Time passed. There was walking one hunter in the wood. He was walking silently as he didn’t want to frighten anyone and return home with good result. The experienced hunter noticed a pigeon sitting on the branch. He prepared the bow and aimed the bird quietly. He was ready to shoot the arrow, when suddenly he felt the strange pain on his leg. Embittered hunter threw away the bow and gripped his leg. Pigeon heard this noise, noticed the hunter and immediately left that place. And little adroit ant calmly climbed down from the hunter’s leg and hided in the grass. That’s how the little ant thanked its savor. It saved the pigeon as the pigeon saved little ant’s life last time. And this is what the tale says: kindness must be repaid with kindness.
